The town and environment

Valtuille de Arriba is an small rural town,in the municipality of Villafranca del Bierzo, about 80 people dedicated to agricultural, horticultural and wine. From the vineyards come some of the most prestigious wines of the region and its environment are numerous wineries, some organic production, which we can visit. Given the high interest in wine in their environment, La Osa Mayor is integrated into the route in the Bierzo Wine, promoted from the Ciduen (Ciudad de la Energía - City of Energy).

The town has a picturesque and retains its traditional architecture of stone and adobe buildings in good condition, very agreeable to pilgrims and visitors still scarce. Located south of the mountains which form the Ancares, halfway between Villafranca, Cacabelos Pieros and is part of the Camino de Santiago, which crosses and cross-country drive to Villafranca del Bierzo.

Valtuille de Arriba is surrounded by green hills with vineyards, forests of chestnut, oaks, oaks and pines, and other types of native vegetation, and has a great variety of fauna, flora and mushroom species. Particularly striking is the variety of colors of the landscape, especially the ocher of the earth, so characteristic of these places and in particular Médulas. All this helps, no doubt, to the delight of travelers passing through the area.
